Tavira – Cosmopolitan city, although founded by the Phoenicians, it was the Romans who left the most significant remains of the pre-Islamic period in the region, among which stands out the Roman bridge that connects the two banks of the River Gilão. In 1520 the town is elevated to the city by King D. Manuel I who thus recognized the importance of this town which was among the richest and most populous in the region, as can be seen from the considerable number of churches and civil buildings built in the centuries. XV and XVI. Nowadays Tavira is one of the most beautiful cities in the Algarve and a tourist attraction with a variety of things to do for those who visit Tavira.

Olhão – Today a vibrant fishing port, it was elevated to the village by King D. João VI in 1808, as a gesture of thanks for the fight against the Napoleonic troops. It was from Olhão that the boat that brought the news of the expulsion of the French to the Portuguese monarch who was a refugee in Brazil departed and that Olhão won the epithet of “Vila da Restauração"

Faro – A city rich in historical heritage whose origins date back to the 2nd Iron Age (5th-4th century BC), several peoples left their contribution to their prosperity, praticularly the Romans, Visigoths and Muslims. In 1540 the elevation of Faro to the city occurs and begins a phase of deep urban renewal during which appear the convents of Our Lady of the Assumption and San Francisco, the Customs building, the Hospital and the Church of Mercy. After the 1755 earthquake, the city undergoes a new and necessary urban renewal, highlighting the construction of Arco da Vila and the assign of some of the most interesting work of art in the municipality.
